The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean’s Harmony of the Seas, has been officially named in Miami, Florida.
In an update of an age-old “christening” ceremony, Brittany Affolter, a 23-year-old teacher who is the ship’s godmother, pushed a button that led to a champagne bottle being broken over the ship.
According to Royal Caribbean, Harmony has 2,395 crew, 20 individual dining options, dodgem cars, an ice rink, and room for 5,479 passengers.
Here’s part of the selling pitch: “We’ve … reimagined and enhanced the unique experiences that have made Royal Caribbean the best cruise line overall 12 years in a row.
“As the kids explore Splashaway Bay, take a tree-lined stroll through Central Park, or find your own haven in any of the other seven iconic onboard neighborhoods.
“Sip a post-dinner cocktail crafted by a robot in our unique Bionic Bar, or sit back and watch for the first time at sea, Broadway’s hit Musical Grease.
“Share every moment with not just family onboard, but friends back home with VOOM – the fastest Internet at sea.”
