There is a simple and very good reason to be wary about lists that claim to name the best (whatever) in the world. Since no researcher or writer has ever experienced every (whatever) in the world, nobody is able to make an objective judgement.
But the internet is full of such lists, many of them in the realm of travel. So, just for giggles, here are some highlights from recent best-of lists.
The Guardian has been a bit cunning in its list of the best 50 beaches by dividing them into categories.
Chief among the ones they claim have the best “wow” factor are: Source d’Argent, Sychelles; Dune dy Pyla, France; Shoal Bay, Antigua; Cala Saona, Formentera; and Glass Beach, California.
St George Beach in Naxos, Greece is listed as the best beach for families in Europe, while Marloes Sands, Pembrokeshire, is said the be the best beach in the United Kingdom, and Praia da Fortaleza, Brazil is best for backpackers.
By contrast, Conde Nast Traveler names its top five beaches as El Nido in Th Philippines; Honokalani, Hawaii; Pansy Island, Mozambique; Anse Lazio, Seychelles; and Honopu, Hawaii.
The Travelers Choice Awards at Trip Advisor lists: Grace Bay, Turks and Caicos; Baia do Sancho, Brazil; Playa Paraiso, Cuba; Anse Lazio (the only one to be near the top of two lists); and Cayo de Agua, Venezuela.
National Geographic’s top five are: Seychelles; Maldives; Bora Bora, Tahiti; The Hamptons, New York; and Lanaiki Beach, Hawaii.
Hi, just wanted to share with you that we had a great vacation at Marina de Bolnuevo in September of this year. We flew into San Javier and hired a car from the airport for the short drive to Bolnuevo. The beaches are sublime, most of them awarded the Blue Flag. The bars were great, with paella on the beach a highlight and managed a trip to the nudist beach there. Very liberating. We also visited the Big Guns, The Roman Mines and the Sand sculptures. Will be returning there again in 2018. Thanks for reading Tony.
