I broke one of my own rules. I decided this time that I would not spend money while at sea when I’m cruising.
The idea was to pay for everything in advance — and get the applicable discouts — then pretend to be having a free holiday (Hey, it works for me. I certainly got a good deal on the internet, paying about $5 a day less than I would had I bought it on board).
But I found one thing I couldn’t resist. Well, two actually.
The first was a lotto ticket — the chance of $1 million for $2 is a bit too good to resist. The other was a $20 CD by the group I’d just seen in the Vision of the Seas’ Masquerade Theatre — a vocal quartet called 4Ever.
Yes, a boy band. Think Il Divo on a cruise ship and you’re not far off. There’s an arty (i.e., bad) picture of the line-up, with a ring in, above.
Tthe quartet is called 4Ever, and its eponymous album is self produced (iTunes required me to manually input the title and track listings), so I’m not sure where else you’d get it.
They do a killer Bohemian Rhapsody segueing into Somebody to Love and they do Nessun Dorma, which always brings a tear to my eye.
So, I have a souvenir. But not, unfortunately, $1 million. Tonight, perhaps …
