I love travelling in business class — who doesn’t or wouldn’t if they could? — but there are three small words that can make that experience infinitely better.
They are “direct aisle access” — and, surprisingly, not every airline offers that even in the most expensive seats onboard their planes.
I was surprised when I saw the layout for an well-known airline’s business-class cabin and noticed that some passengers still had to climb over others if they wanted to go to the rest room or just stretch their legs.
That’s no fun even on a short flight, let alone a long-haul one.
The seat map (above) shows the configuration on an Emirates Boeing 777. And Emirates isn’t the only airline that charges a premium price for some not-so-premium seats.
Now I know couples often fly together, and maybe groups of three do, but surely the overwhelming majority of business travellers are on their own, and want some personal space.
After all, isn’t that the point of flying premium?
