I’ve written before about my concerns about a cruise line offering passengers free, unlimited alcoholic drinks. My comments then related to certain Norwegian Cruise Line sailing.
Now another cruise operator, Thomson, has announced that on its new TUI Discovery, “everyone goes all inclusive from summer 2017”.
According to the Thomson/TUI website: “This means your drinks, including prosecco and cider, plus meals in five restaurants and most onboard activities will all be part of the deal.”
Now that’s good news for those worried about their costs (which can certainly mount up), but is it really responsible for the default offering to be free alcohol?
Yes, I know nobody is holding a gun to our heads and making us drink, but at the same time it takes a special kind of discipline to decline a free beverage or two (or three) – especially when you are on holidays.
