Winners have been announced in the 2016 edition of the Comedy Wildlife Photography Awards.

A picture of a fox half buried in snow was named the winner, with commended entries including a one-winged owl and a bear being slapped in the face by a fish.
The point of the competition, run by two UK-based wildlife photographers, is to encourage an awareness of conservation — but some of the pictures on the official website could be seen as somewhat mean-spirited. Is it ethically sound to laugh at an animal that may be in distress?
I would like to be able to say with certainty that no animals were harmed. I don’t know, but I certainly hope that is the case.
