If you’ve ever watched one of those “fly on the wall” television shows set in airports and wondered why some people — especially those who do something foolish or illegal — would allow themselves to be a part of it all, this might be a clue.
This sign was spotted at an Australian airport recently, and I find the wording quite interesting.
Travellers often encounter notices that tell them where they cannot take pictures. Indeed, in some countries it is illegal to take pictures of military installations, government buildings or even of any other person without their consent.
However, the sign suggests that the Seven network in Australia has secured a deal with the border protection authorities that means individuals have to opt out of being in the reality show, Border Security, rather than opt in.
It’s not clear what the process is, so I’ve emailed Channel Seven to ask. I’ll post the response here if and when I receive one.
