What you do on a repeat visit after you’ve already seen the sights?
Like many travellers, I like to visit new places but there are destinations that I find myself in again and again for various reasons — to see friends and family, or because I’m on the way somewhere else, or it’s a port of convenience.
My recent trip to Bangkok was one of those occasions. I wasn’t supposed to be going there, but my other plans fell through (that story is told here).
I once lived in Bangkok and I’ve been there on at least six other occasions. I’ve seen the major sites — the temples, the palace, the streets of ill repute — so I mainly return to see my friends.
But in bustling Bangkok, there’s always something new to see. The pictures here are of the riverside Asiatique shopping and tourism district (which has been there for a couple of years) and the new Central Embassy shopping mall and surrounds, plus a few random scenes.
My advice: just chill and go where the day takes you. In Bangkok, something is always happening.
