As of right now, I am blogging my holiday. Unlike last time, I will make each entry a separate post, making it easier to read (you won’t have to start at the bottom to follow the thread).
The itinerary starts with a flight to Munich (it’s the last leg of my business-class trip from Germany to Australia, started in November last year), then a longer-than-I’d-like transit in Munich for a flights first to Rome, transitting to Genoa. I’ll be spending a lot of time inside airports tomorrow.
I’m spending a night in Genoa and then catching a train or some other mode of transport to Savona. After a night in Savona, I’ll be boarding the Costa Diadema for a 7-day Western Mediterranean cruise, taking in Marseille, Barcelona, Palma de Mallorca, Civitacecchia and La Spezia. On March 19, I fly back to Munich, spend a night at the airport hotel and fly back to Abu Dhabi on March 20.
The plan is to document it all here, including airline, airport, airport lounge, hotel and cruise reviews.
I’m still in my flat at Abu Dhabi, packing for the trip. I’m debating with myself whether I should put the heavy jacket in the hold luggage or carry it onboard with me.
It’ll be a bit cool in Europe, but I’ll be inside a plane or a terminal building for most of the time, so the jacket may be a nuisance. I’ve convinced myself it’s going in the big bag, and I’ll stuff a light track suit jacket in the carry-on.
I’ll let you know how that works out.
Meanwhile, it’s fingers crossed that the storm predicted for Abu Dhabi tonight doesn’t eventuate. The was a huge one around the middle of today, and more were forecast. I want a smooth trip to the airport and a smooth flight.
Stay tuned for updates!
