Breaking it down, New York was the dearest place to stay in a hotel, and Sunny Beach, Bulgaria the cheapest.
When it comes to a beer, the cheapest place was Manila in the Philippines (38p a pint), compared to £6.39 in Doha, Qatar. Other cheap drinking places were Siem Reap, Cambodia; Beijing; Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon); and Caracas, Venezuela. Dear beers were found in Oslo, Dubai, Paris and Singapore.

Of course, anybody who has been to any of these places would recognise these as conservative estimates. I’ve found that it’s easy to spend a lot of money in very cheap places.
